Russian punk rock band 321run has shared their brand new single ‘Guns Kill!’ The song is the third single from the band since they formed in 2019, and it follows previously released tracks ‘Bambi (Drop Your Gun),’ and their Summer anthem ‘Waves.’
Fronted by former professional snowboarder Alyona Alekhina, the new song sees the Moscow four-piece do what thy best – delivering the fast, angry and energetic punk rock number with a social and political message – “The song is based on some true stories I’ve read. Unfortunately. It happens all the time. It happens everywhere. Guns are created to kill, so sooner or later they just do what they are created to do… Statistics is horrifying,” shared Alekhina.
Unfortunately, for Alekhina, the song has a personal side too – “I would like gun lovers, to please, stay away from commenting. It’s a very sensitive subject to me. I’ve always hated guns, but also, one my most amazing friends was killed by a bullet of a mass shooter in the streets of LA two and half years ago. It was random – it could be you and I as well, any of us.”
True to their roots, on this single, band once again went all DIY: “We’re as DIY as it gets, so the art for the song is by our guitarist Mat, which makes it even better! We all love it,” she shared, before concluding: “This song is exactly what I wanted it to be. I feel like I started a band to write songs like this one in the first place.”
