Nia Archives continues her mission to link Brazilian sounds with new-gen jungle with the release of her new single ‘Maia Maia’, a high-energy collaboration with Clipz. Out now on her own label Up Ya Archives, the track is a tribute to the Brazilian music and culture that has inspired her, following in the footsteps of her previous track ‘Baianá’. Last week, alongside Clipz, Nia hosted an ‘Up Ya Archives’ radio show on NTS – building anticipation for the undeniable roller.
Nia has also just announced her biggest Up Ya Archives Warehouse Project takeover to date on the 15th of November. An inimitable event, Nia will be taking over 5 rooms for 10 hours – all through the day and night. across the day and night.
‘Maia Maia’ blends the energy of Brazilian carnival with cutting-edge jungle production. The track has been teased across festivals and online all summer, with DJs including Nia, Clipz, Shy FX and Sherelle playing it out to huge crowd reactions. Only a few weeks ago, Nia also played the track at the iconic Notting Hill Carnival, ‘B2B’ with Clipz.
Speaking on the single, Nia states: “Clipz and I wanted to capture some Brazilian junglist energy with ‘Maia Maia’, drawing inspiration from legends like DJ Patife and DJ Marky. When we hit the studio, our vision was to create a track that could feel like the soundtrack to the 2026 World Cup. I’d come across this incredible samba group sample, paired it with an old Juno-106 I’d just picked up, and from there, ‘Maia Maia’ was born.”
The music video, created by Lauzza, draws on a retro video game and sees Nia working her way through the plot, accompanied by singing snakes and vibrant hypnotic colours. ‘Maia Maia’ is the latest release on Up Ya Archives, Nia’s label – the home for all things 150-170bpm and ‘new gen junglism’. It follows her debut release ‘Get Loose’ with Bristol newcomer Cheetah; but also releases from Fex The Kid and Nextax.
