Public Enemy hit the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live, kicking off his Brooklyn run and in support of the physical media release of their latest project ‘Black Sky Over The Projects: Apartment 2025’ with a performance that reminded everybody why they’re still the loudest voice in the room when it comes to truth, resistance, and unapologetic hip hop. Public Enemy performed their three-song medley, including ‘Don’t Believe The Hype’, ‘The Hits Just Keep On Comin’ and ‘Fight the Power.’
Kimmel is just returning from being taken off the air for saying something the government didn’t like. It just felt appropriate for this group to be on that stage at this moment. Flavor Flav kicked it off with a shoutout to Kimmel, saying “Public Enemy always got your back!” before Chuck D began to rhyme in a shirt referencing Mumia Abu-Jamal, H Rap Brown, Palestine, Haiti, and Assata Shakur – check out the performance below!
