Following her record-breaking moment with ‘Strangers’, she took a much needed hiatus to reconnect with herself and return to creating from a place of love and fun, without the pressure of a looming deadline.
The result is ‘Naked’, an intoxicating and mellifluous track that sits at the intersection of the rave and vulnerable storytelling, Kenya’s signature sweet spot. Orchestral and cinematic, bold danceable liquid dnb and electronic pulses through her exposing, cathartic lyrics about never feeling quite enough to make someone stay. Alongside the release, she shares a new video directed by Joel Palmer that visually echoes the story of love, lust, and loneliness.
Speaking on the single, she shares: “‘Naked’ is about the loneliness of being desired for your body but not seen for who you are. It’s the quiet emptiness of lying next to someone and still feeling completely invisible.”
