Saskatoon hip hop producer Factor Chandelier and Codefendants team up for ‘RAW,’ an anti-authoritarian anthem built from three distinct perspectives on life outside the systems that claim to define us. The song features Doomtree’s P.O.S, and comes with a music video, another collaboration with legendary underground art collective Indecline, which can be seen below.
‘RAW’ tackles everything from individual and collective resistance to surreal, apocalyptic imagery, questioning everything from policing and corporate power to political parties, religious hypocrisy, and the people who profit from fear and division. It embraces the perspective of those who’ve never comfortably fit inside the lines. Rather than offering easy answers or slogans, the trio spit bars inspired by Minor Threat’s ‘Out of Step’ EP and Richard Wright’s 1953 novel ‘The Outsider.’
