The Baltimore hardcore giants Turnstile recently raised over $220000 for Human Concern International’s relief efforts in the three regions. The band organized the show on the National Mall with Human Concern International supporting humanitarian relief efforts in Palestine, Sudan, and Lebanon. By Sunday, the fundraiser had raised $220,000 for the charities, a considerable increase upon early expectations of $100,000.
“Today we’re here to gather around music to celebrate humanity. But also to fight for it. Be loud enough for the White House to hear,” frontman Brendan Yates told the crowd midway through the set. “We’re so grateful to have been raised by this scene, one that taught us that music not only reflects the artist making it but the people and the world and the suffering and the joy that surrounds it.” He then led the crowd into chanting: “Loud enough for the White House to hear it: Free Palestine! Free Sudan! Free Lebanon!”
