Alexisonfire cover Rusty classic ‘Misogyny’

Following their recent take on The Tragically Hip’s ‘Fully Completely,’ Alexisonfire return today with a cover of the 1996 classic, ‘Misogyny’ (Rusty), taken from the band’s upcoming four-track cover collection, ‘Copies of Old Masters Volume 1,’ out November 7th via Dine Alone Records.

Alexisonfire vocalist George Pettit shared: “It’s 1996 and you love snowboarding, rock and roll, and sexual puns… flash back to a MuchMusic special called Snow Job ’96 where Rusty played ‘Misogyny’ at the base of a ski hill on live television. YouTube it, and imagine a 16-year-old version of yourself immediately getting dreadlocks the next day.”

The new track arrives on the heels of ‘Fully Completely’, Alexisonfire’s spin on the classic track from Canadian music royalty, The Tragically Hip. “Show me a Canadian that didn’t own a Tragically Hip cassette in their youth and I’ll show you someone that lied to you about not owning a Tragically Hip cassette in their youth.”

Both tracks will appear on ‘Copies of Old Masters Volume 1’, where true to form, the band puts their unmistakable stamp on reimagined versions of songs from beloved 90s Canadian bands; The Tragically Hip, Doughboys, Shallow North Dakota, and Rusty.

Alexisonfire are rolling out a special merch capsule, available alongside standard and limited edition vinyl variants, CD (maxi-single) and Cassette (red).
