Big D And The Kids Table release new single ‘Scatterbrain’, share North American tour dates

Boston ska punk institution Big D And The Kids Table have released their new single and music video ‘Scatterbrain,’ the latest offering from their upcoming album ‘The Good Ole American Saturday Night,’ due June 12th via SideOneDummy Records.

Following previously released singles ‘Whiplash’ and ‘Right Now’, ‘Scatterbrain’ taps into another side of the band’s personality — fast, chaotic, self-aware, and deeply human. Fueled by punchy horns, restless rhythms, and the kind of melodic urgency Big D have spent decades perfecting, the song turns what society often labels as a flaw into something worth celebrating.

“I’m so old school that I had ADHD before they added the ‘H’!” says frontman Dave McWane. “When I was in 2nd grade the teachers & school didn’t know what to do with me. Why does he test so high in these subjects, but so low in these & why does he talk so much? So me, with a few other brave mutants, went to a school for kids like us, got tested endlessly and were always marginalized by the system.”

“Today it gives me a careful smile when younger people come up to me and tell me that they have ADHD freely and nonchalantly. It’s beautiful to me. Though the same problem exists today and has been normalized — I don’t, and they don’t, have a ‘learning disability.’ They don’t have a ‘disorder.’ Obviously the person who titled these gifts didn’t have them. Everyone should start calling it ‘ATC’Attention To Creativity. That’s what ‘Scatterbrain’ is about.”

The accompanying animated video captures the song’s laidback reggae groove and emotional honesty, depicting the confusion, overstimulation, and alienation that often come with ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence — while ultimately framing those experiences through a hopeful, empowering lens rooted in creativity, individuality, and self-acceptance.

Produced by Joe Gittleman (The Mighty Mighty BossTones) and Matt Appleton (Reel Big Fish), ‘The Good Ole American Saturday Night’ finds Big D And The Kids Table sounding as energized and purposeful as ever. More than 30 years into their career, the band continue to evolve without losing the joyful chaos, emotional sincerity, and community-driven spirit that made them one of ska-punk’s most beloved institutions.

In addition to the new single and video, the band has also announced a lengthy new run of North American tour dates.
