Originally released in 2016 on Pure Noise Records, ‘Be Nothing.’ – produced by Neil Kennedy – became an immediate hit with critics and fans for its deft wielding of alternative sounds and powerful, emotional songwriting. ‘Be Nothing.’ set the blueprint from which Boston Manor would become the borderless, innovative rock band that the are today, spawning three key singles in ‘Laika’, ‘Lead Feet’, and ‘Fossa’. On the ‘Be Nothing. 10 Year Anniversary’ collection, a number of the album’s original tracks are given special acoustic reworkings including both ‘Laika’ and ‘Lead Feet’, and ‘Drowned In Gold’.
Commenting on the anniversary, bassist Dan Cunniff says: “For me; writing and recording ‘Be Nothing’. was one of the most exciting things we had done at that time. Doing the “band thing” for many years previous to Boston Manor, I’d always wanted to be involved in writing a full length record but never had the opportunity to do it properly. So by the time the opportunity came round, I felt like we were all hyper focused on what we wanted to achieve and also keeping in mind what this record would sound like in 10 years from that point. That being said; I think we achieved our goals with ‘Be Nothing’. because I believe this record holds up even today 10 years on. The record did more than we thought it would do for us. It opened up so many doors, especially in the touring world. Having the opportunity to travel all around the world because of one record is pretty insane!
