DC returns with a new single ‘The Latest’

South London rapper DC returns with his first new music of 2022, ‘The Latest.’ Paying homage to his rap hero J. Cole, the Greenwich-born storyteller lifts the sample from ‘Chaining Day’ (Sly Slick and Wicked’s ‘Sho’nuff’), pairing the smooth, lush instrumentation with hard-won tales from life growing up in inner-city London.

Speaking on ‘The Latest,’ DC shares: “Feels good to be back, I’ve been away working and now I feel like it’s time to go. Happy to be dropping this new one, take it as the introduction to the next chapter in the story.”

The single arrives with a lo-fi video shot by Maxamillian Hofgartner of spliced footage of 24 hours in the rapper’s life, with the visuals for the record a nod to another of DC’s inspirations – Nipsey Hussle.

Speaking on the video, Hofgartner said: “Was sick to work with DC on this one, we actually met at a Knucks show I was shooting at and we got on straight away. He’s super creative and introspective with his stuff – kinda like me, so it’s been sick collaborating with him on this and other pieces of content we’ve worked on.”
