The rising tide of emo and pop-punk nostalgia has brought many amazing things—new songs from beloved artists, anniversary tours, and long-awaited reunions. But it has also ushered in a fresh wave of pop-punk, led by a new generation of artists coming of age in entirely different scenes. Today, Pure Noise Records announces the signing of Super Sometimes, (formerly known as New Aesthetic), a band that was too young to witness their San Diego hometown explode as a pop-punk launching pad around the turn of the millennium, but is now leading their own SoCal charge, melding generations of punk rock with an old – school DIY mentality and new – school social media savvy.
Along with the signing announcement, Super Sometimes have released a new song and music video for ‘Say Something Now’. The video gives the viewer and listener a perfect first introduction to the band who thread the needle between the adrenaline – fueled urgency of skate punk, the polished hooks and tight arrangements of Drive-Thru Records’ heyday, the confessional lyricism and unfiltered emotion of Tumblr – era acts.
The new song can be found as part of ‘From Then & Now’, a compilation of their previous releases, which also includes a cover of Box Car Racer’s ‘All Systems Go’, both produced by Zach Tuch.
