Tigers Jaw release new anticipated album ‘Lost On You’, share ‘Staring at Empty Faces’ lyric video

Tigers Jaw released their highly anticipated new LP ‘Lost on You’, produced/engineered by their longtime collaborator Will Yip (Turnstile, Movements). This is their seventh LP and second release for Hopeless Records – they have also confirmed a Reddit AMA at r/Indieheads on March 31st.

“In a lot of ways ‘Lost on You’ feels like the record we’ve wanted to make for a long time. We harnessed the energy of our live performances and amplified it with incredible production and direction from our friend and producer Will Yip. We took our time crafting these songs, pushing each idea until it became something that felt authentically us, but also fresh and exciting and inspiring,” says Walsh of the new record.

“This record is about the passing of time, realizing that there is a dichotomy that while things seem to change drastically over time, sometimes you end up right where you started. It’s about confronting difficult truths, and sitting with them to better understand yourself and your place in this world. You’ve been here before, you’ll be here again. We couldn’t be more proud of this record lyrically, thematically, and musically–and the best part comes next, when we get to perform the songs live in front of people and make that connection.”

Today’s album release arrives alongside their new anthem, ‘Staring at Empty Faces’, and its lyric video. “Born from a riff that Teddy wrote, this song saw many different iterations before the version you hear on the record,” Walsh explains. “It started as an alt-country type riff, later was sped up to the pace of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song’ and finally fell into place when we slowed it down and gave it space to breathe. A few years back we came across a version of our song ‘Cat’s Cradle’ that someone had ‘slowed and reverbed.’ We actually loved how that sounded, so that sort of inspired how we approached this song in the end. ‘Staring at Empty Faces’ is a song about brutal honesty, and how sometimes being honest even when it’s difficult can turn friends into strangers.”
