Bay Area punk veterans Western Addiction return with fiery new single, ‘The Diamond,’ offering another inside look at their upcoming album ‘Psychedelic Munitions,’ due out May 22nd, 2026. A sharp distillation of the band’s signature ferocity, ‘The Diamond’ captivates with rapid-fire riffs and anthemic lyrics built to be listened to at full volume.
Rooted deeply in the storied San Francisco punk community, Western Addiction have long been a unique presence in modern hardcore. Formed by employees of Fat Wreck Chords, the band emerged from inside one of punk’s most influential labels and quickly carved out their own identity in the scene.
Western Addiction shares of the new album: “We wanted to take a shot at making a real stomper in the spirit of AC/DC. I was watching some videos of them playing small theaters in the 70s and they were just incredible, a real “band.” This song is about Bon Scott. He was a glowing figure, a one-of-a-kind showman. It’s tough to compete with Angus, but Bon was a special creature and deserves the shine. The video spans from Scotland (the birthplace of members) to Australia (the country for which they’re known)”.
