DC Shoes drop new Basquiat collection!

DC Shoes are proud to honor the legacy of Jean-Michel Basquiat with a footwear and apparel collection featuring 21 paintings from the artist’s most prolific year. During the 1981-82 period, when Basquiat was just 21 years old, he engaged in a flurry of productivity, creating some of his most transformative work and staking his place in both the art world and our culture at large.

As a brand rooted in skateboarding and streetwear, DC’s collision of 90’s East Coast style and West Coast creativity aligns naturally with Jean-Michel Basquiat’s voice and vision. The collaboration is a fitting tribute to Basquiat’s journey from street artist to one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.

The collection includes a broad array of staple DC footwear and apparel, from the popular new Manual to the classic Lynx Zero—as well as some kids-specific slip-ons featuring Basquiat’s more youthful art. Another standout from the collection is an exclusive Manual Hi featuring all 21 different paintings on one shoe, painstakingly set across 21 different panels. And typical of DC collaborations, the company took it a step further with the Basquiat Hybrid, a never-seen-before mashup of the Lynx OG and Legacy OG. This one-of-kind shoe drops August 14 and is sure to sell out fast.
