West Country born/London-based producer Rockwell returns with his latest single ‘Recognise’ – an ethereal and melancholy vocal-led single that references much of his guitar-based musical influences and tastes outside of electronic music. Hot on the heels of his highly anticipated return at the end of last year with the harmonic ‘Estranged’ featuring LaMeduza and the explosive socio-political battle cry ‘Peak’ featuring Lewisham-born and bred MC Novelist, this latest single is the latest in a series of singles from the producer expected to drop over the next few months.
Speaking on the track, Rockwell says: “Borne of my musical influences and much guitar pedal experimentation, the musical phrases of ‘Recognize’ were one of the first musical elements that I created for this project. I wanted to create something that was tender, melancholy but abrasive in timbre – something to contrast against the pristine uplifting, and soulful traits that dominate the more musical styles of drum and bass. Valentina really helped to take the track to the next level, and I adore the contrast of her ethereal vocals against the rough edges of the instrumental.”
