Southern California punk-rock veterans Zebrahead have released ‘I.O.’, a new dual release bringing together a newly remastered version of the band’s ‘I’ EP with its critically acclaimed final chapter, ‘0’. ‘I.O’ is available now on streaming platforms.
The arrival of ‘I.O’ follows an exceptional response to ‘0’, with Punktuation! Magazine declared it “one of the best ones I’ve heard this year,” while Into The Void called it “one of their best releases in modern Zebrahead history.”
Reflections of Darkness awarded the EP a perfect 10/10, and Chorus.fm called ‘0’ “arguably the strongest EP in the series.” Devolution Magazine described ‘0’ as “an EP of hyperactive headbangers,” while The RingMaster Review declared that Zebrahead “just get bigger, bolder and hungrier in sound.” Sonic Abuse praised the record’s “cracking, memorable songs that are going to decimate the pit,” and Distorted Sound Magazine called it “a short burst of energy that longtime fans of Zebrahead will love.”
The response reinforces what Zebrahead set out to accomplish across the four-EP project: continue evolving without abandoning the infectious hooks, massive riffs, melodic punch, humor, and explosive energy that have defined the band for decades.
The band’s lineup features Ali Tabatabaee (vocals, rhymes), Adrian Estrella (vocals, guitar), Ben Osmundson (bass), Dan Palmer (guitar), and Ed Udhus (drums).
“This EP feels like we tapped into something new for us,” says vocalist Ali Tabatabaee of ‘0’. “Everything just feels bigger, the riffs, the hooks, the verses, all of it. We didn’t hold back.”
Nearly three decades in, Zebrahead isn’t looking backward. The band plans to start writing and recording in early 2027 for a new release later in the year.
