Fairweather share new single ‘Control’ from the upcoming EP ‘Deluge’

Fairweather have shared their new single ‘Control’ alongside a lyric video. The song serves as the second single, following the towering ‘Untethered.’

The track exemplifies the band’s ability to create the kind of atmosphere that can fully engage the listener and at the same time slowly build a current of tension just below the surface. The song is a monochromatic trudge, barreling towards the end of their upcoming EP ‘Deluge,’ set for release June 24th on long-time label home Equal Vision Records.

Recorded at guitarist Ben Green‘s Washington D.C. studio, Ivakota, and partially at vocalist Jay Littleton’s studio in Houston, ‘Deluge’ is Fairweather‘s first new music since their self-titled album in 2014. The four songs sprawl with lush arrangements and a melodic tension that push from the boundaries of their lengthy album catalog. Rounding out the band’s lineup is guitarist Peter Tsouras, drummer Shane Johnson, and Ben Murphy moves to the third guitar as the band welcomes Nick Barkley (Olympia) on bass. Fairweather has also announced a release show for ‘Deluge’ at The Black Cat in Washington D.C. on June 24th.

Speaking on the lyrics of ‘Control,’ Littleton stated: ‘Control’ is about the rules and rituals that we assign ourselves to protect us and the ones we love. When so much of life is uncertain and out of our hands, we take hold of the things we can affect. We do these things to help maintain the illusion of control and to fight the feeling of helplessness.”
