Public Image Ltd announce new album ‘End Of World,’ share new song ‘Penge’

Public Image Ltd have revealed plans for their first album release in eight years. The album, titled ‘End Of World,’ will be available on August 11th and is a tribute to the band’s frontman, John Lydon‘s late wife Nora Forster.

Nora passed away last week at the age of 80 after living with Alzheimer’s disease for five years. As her full-time carer, Lydon was deeply affected by her loss. The album’s closing track, ‘Hawaii,’ was penned as a “love letter” to Forster, and the band had hoped to perform the song in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest representing Ireland, they lost out to Dublin quartet Wild Youth. The song, according to Lydon is “dedicated to everyone going through tough times on the journey of life, with the person they care for the most.”

Nora loved the album, she wouldn’t have wanted us to postpone it or change any of our plans,” Lydon continues. Along with the announcement, Public Image Ltd. released the album’s opening track, ‘Penge,’ which John has described as “something of a medieval Viking epic.” Check it below.
